The state with the most expensive average gas prices right now is California, as it has been during most of this gas prices crisis, and it currently costs an average of 4.865 dollars per gallon in this state.

As has been the case throughout the rise in gas prices, the deep south is where you'll find the cheapest average gas prices. Mississippi can boast the lowest gas prices today at an average of 2.962 dollars per gallon.
