KCPD responded to a shooting call around 9:30 a.m. Monday morning near the Paseo Fast Stop

The Kansas City, Missouri Police Department says one person has died following a Monday morning shooting at an area gas station.

KCPD responded to a call reporting the sound of shots fired just before 9:15 a.m. near the intersection of East 45th Street and Paseo Blvd.

While officers were on their way to the location, the call was updated to a shooting. Approximately 30 minutes later, law enforcement confirmed that they were investigating a homicide.

Upon arrival, officers located the victim, an unidentified man, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds in the parking lot of the Paseo Fast Stop.

EMS says that the man died at the scene.

Officers are still in the early stages of their investigation. Police have not yet released additional information on the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Homicide detectives are at the scene processing evidence and canvassing for witnesses and video.

Police said that the shooting occurring in the morning near a public area has investigators hopeful that there are witnesses who may have information.

KCPD is working with Partners for Peace in all homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.\
