The Ascent: Most Powerful Weapons Vendors Don't Sell
Since the fall of The Ascent Group, it's survive or die on Veles, but where can you find the right weapons?
The Ascent is one of the most fun shoot-em-up cyberpunk games that has come out in recent years. Unfortunately, it was a bit overshadowed by all the Cyberpunk 2077 news that was circling that game during its release at the time.

The Arcological world of Veles has all the hallmarks of a good old cyberpunk cityscape. First off, you’re stuck in an enclosed world ruled by a massive neoliberal monopolistic corporation, that one day collapses, thus creating a power vacuum that results in utter chaos. You’ve got to get to the bottom of it in one piece, and the best way to do that is by finding some secret weapons. We're talking about the ones you can't buy in the stores.
Let's start small with The Minor Note. This Sidearm Weapon isn't the fastest pistol in all of Veles, but compared to the rest of them, it sure can pack the strongest punch. The gun itself shoots 4.5 bullets every second, but each one does a sweet 20 to 31 damage.
The most impressive feature of The Minor Note is its 2000 Knockback power. You know it will come in handy when wanting to halt any enemy that comes your way.
If you’re looking for this bad boy, you’ll have to pick it up in the exMat Lab in the Corpzone while on the Trace Protocol mission. It's behind the ICE door.
With a name like Scorcher, you know there’ll be some fire damage involved. This modified shotgun is a pyros best friend, with its 338 damage per second, you’ll be able to take down, and burn down, whoever tries to step in your way.
To pick up this fire-breathing shotgun, you need to complete a side mission called The Stash. The gun will be behind an ICE door near Linus’ Pizza Place in Gratitude. Once you get back to Cluster 13 to report back to Iris and the Bartender, ask for the weapon rather than the UCREDs. This way you’ll get to keep it and burn those that come between you and the truth about The Ascent Groups’ demise.
Nothing makes you feel as powerful as having ricocheting ammo, especially if that ammo is loaded into a submachine gun. This is the Crazymaker a rapid-firing submachine gun that’ll be great when taking down swarms of enemies. The only risk you’ll come across is that you might hitting the wrong person. As the weapon description goes "you’re always guaranteed to hit something, even if it's just yourself".

To find the Crazymaker, you’re going to find your way to Galan's Pod Capsule Hotel in Nitroad. Once you’re in the hotel you’re going to take the elevator to the lounge area on the last floor. Look for a large window to the left side of the area, and you’ll find the weapon just sitting there. The catch is the area is guarded by level 20 enemies, so don't just go there unprepared.
How can you not love an EightCo-produced weapon? Sure, based on game lore they are the knockoff gunsmiths, but when it comes to the Overwhelmer they sure did improve the original A24 Dominator.
This Explosive ammo spewing weapon is a dream come true for all Machine Gun lovers in-game. If you pick it up, you’ll probably keep up for your whole playthrough. A total of 607 damage per second and some beautiful pyrotechnics too mean it's bound to impress.
The Overwhelmer is just sitting in the back of a truck, yep, a truck that's sitting in The Edge. The best way to find the truck is to pick up the "That Guy" side mission and once you’re in the northern corner of the district you’ll find it. Just, be careful of those level 25 enemies guarding the area.
Before we go any further with all the gun-toting madness, we can't forget about the one melee weapon that can compete with the rest of the guns we've talked about up until now. The Guillotine is the Katana that every cyberpunk game needs to have, and this one sure can do some damage.
If you’re willing to risk learning how to use it properly, this melee weapon can deal a base of 639 damage per second, and you’ll even be able to do some nice whirlwind attacks once you get the hang of it.
If you’re convinced you need the Guillotine, you’ll need to pay attention during the Critical Resource main mission. When you’re about to reach the ruby, there's a locked room on the west side of the BioChoice Pharma Special Projects building, once you hack the door you’ll find a chest that holds the Guillotine sword.
Now, would you like to have an Automatic Rocket Launcher in your arsenal? An Automatic Rocket Launcher that was created to serve the function of keeping meteors at bay when mining asteroids? Did you answer yes to both of those questions? Then you are in luck because the Astromasher does just that.
The Knockback is at a nice 400 and the 30 Clip Size comes in handy, especially when you remember that you’re shooting rockets and not bullets.

The Astromasher is one of the easiest weapons to find on your own, that is if you can take down the Siege Mech boss while completing the "Trading Places" main mission. Just remember to pick it up.
Under the category of Special Weapon, you can find the Dismemberer. This nice little saw-shooting weapon is just what you need to add to your collection. It started as a construction tool and was later modified into a weapon by corpSec, where it was moded to shoot wall-bouncing monosaws at enemies.
Each shot does a nice 198-293 damage. The only downside is the 1.3 shot per second rate of fire, but let's be honest, you didn't go looking for it because you cared about speed. You wanted something to cut your enemies in half.
The only way you can pick up the Dismemberer is by completing the "Liberation Operation" side mission. Make sure you find it though, as some people had a hard time initiating the mission.
A few things should make you want to scour the edges of Veles and find a weapon that per the game copy "Defies Classification." The Dealbreaker can't fit into one category and is the strongest weapon you won't find sold by vendors.
We’re looking at a total of 1119 damage per second. How is that possible? Well, each shot does six rounds, dealing 20 to 27 damage and with each second The Dealbreaker shoots eight rounds. The name suits it well.
Now to find The Dealbreaker you’re going to find Silo 86, that's in the northernmost regions of the facility, past the Feral Nest, and in the Deepstink. Once there you’ll find a red chest, that's where The Dealbreaker will be waiting for you.
