The announcement that the Fearless Flying Frog Brigade would visit the Mobile Saenger Theatre this summer generated considerable excitement among fans of bassist extraordinaire Les Claypool. The awareness that the Brigade will feature Sean Ono Lennon, previously a partner in The Claypool Lennon Delirium, raised expectations that much further – but it was still only the tip of the iceberg.

As advertised, the June 19 show will feature Jerry Harrison and Adrian Belew as special guests. There's a little more to it than that, and Belew himself recently took time to fill in the details.

You can talk lot about the musicology and impact of Talking Heads and their 1980 album "Remain in Light," revered as one of the most distinctive and influential releases of the ‘80s. But for legendary guitarist Belew, it's more about the sheer happiness of the thing: He said the "Remain in Light" tour that he and Harrison have embarked on is one of the most joyous and fulfilling experiences of his storied career.

"I’m excited about playing those shows with Les and Sean, that's going to be wonderful," Belew said. "I think we have maybe eight or 10 of them, sharing the bill like that. What we do already is such an exciting and happy, joyful show, to add in what they bring to it, it's going to be amazing."

Both Belew and Harrison have an unimpeachable connection to the source material. Harrison was the guitarist and keyboardist for Talking Heads. Belew was called in during the recording process for "Remain in Light" and contributed to several songs. He also took part in the subsequent tour.
