Woman arrested after threatening her neighbor with a hammer

Authorities from the Logan County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the 1900 block of Township Road 179 regarding an incident. Beth Church, 48, came onto the victim's property and threatened her while holding a hammer in her hand Saturday evening around 6:00.

Authorities spoke with the victim. She advised that she and her family were in the garage and saw Church standing there holding a hammer. Church asked for someone and the female said that he didn't live there anymore.

The female told Church that she needed to leave the property and go home. Church yelled at her and called her a derogatory term. Church then said she would beat the female and was going to kill her, all while holding the hammer in her hand.

The female asked her again to leave and she went home.

At around 8:30, deputies were dispatched again to the female's residence as Church was in her yard with a gas can in her hands screaming and yelling at her "demons" and throwing things at a residence two houses down from hers. The victim said that she saw Church go into her house.

At the Church residence, 2000 block of Township Road 179, deputies walked to the back of the house because they saw Ms. Church's boyfriend mowing. As authorities went to the back of the property, Church knocked the window out of her back door. She nor her boyfriend would let the deputies into their residence.

Deputies went back to the victim's house for more information.

When they returned to the Church residence, she was found sitting in the front seat of a truck in the driveway. She would not get out of the truck when asked. She finally got out by saying she wanted to go to the hospital because her foot was bleeding, and she was having a miscarriage.

Church was placed under arrest.

Church's boyfriend said that she was not pregnant and advised that she has mental issues.

Church was transported to Mary Rutan Hospital by Tri-Valley EMS and seen by the ER.

She was released and transported to the Logan County Jail for aggravated trespass and aggravated menacing.

No further information is available at this time.
