The Best Weapons And Ammunition In Ship Of Fools

Survive the seven seas with the best weapons in Ship Of Fools.

Ship of Fools is an exciting and adventurous indie game that follows the Fools, as they take on the mission of exploring the seas. The Fools must protect their boat by whatever means necessary.

Oftentimes in this game, protection comes in the form of firing your cannon (or oar) at passing enemies. Each enemy has its own strengths which may make it harder to defeat, which means you have to strategically attack in order to succeed. Luckily for the Fools, there are plenty of munitions and ways to attack the enemies at sea.

When you first start out in the game, you are brought quickly onto a ship. Because of how fast everything happens, you don't have much time to prepare yourself with anything helpful. However, you quickly learn to make use of your oar.

This oar can be used to strike enemies and knock them out. The makeshift weapon can also be used to send projectiles straight back to the enemy. While it is not the fanciest or most damaging weapon, it is the most useful to you when you are first starting out.

Fairly early on in the game, you find and keep what is called a Seashell Generator. When you obtain this generator, you can place it in the middle of your boat on a pedestal. You can then use the seashells that come from it to load up your cannons.

All of your cannons will need some sort of ammunition. While the seashell generator is very much beginner ammunition, it is necessary for you to progress in the game. Without it, you wouldn't be able to encounter any other types of ammunition.

While the harpoons may not seem like much in comparison to other weapons, they are extremely helpful. They are even imperative to your journey, as they help you retrieve items out of your reach. Clarity, the one who brought you on to the boat, gives them to you.

Apart from helping you gather items, they are good at piercing enemies. You can load them in your cannons like regular ammunition. They are also collectible throughout the game, and the more you collect, the better shape you'll be in.

Without the cannon, any ammunition or harpoons that you come across are essentially useless. The basic cannon that you receive at the start of your journey is quickly updated by Clarity before you head out again.

While the basic cannon is manual (meaning you need to aim and steer it), Clarity's upgrade makes it automatic. All that you have to do is load up the ammunition, and the weapon will lock onto enemies. This is especially helpful if you have your hands full with more than one enemy.

The poisoning essence is a trinket that you encounter that helps elevate the status of your weapons. For example, you can add the poisoning essence to your harpoons. This works as an oil and remains on the harpoons even when you launch them.

Enemies that are hit by these altered harpoons will suffer the consequences of the poisonous essence. More damage can be dealt, and the effects can remain throughout the battle. The Poisoning Essence is a huge help, despite how discreet it looks in its little bottle.

Metal plating helps to increase the damage done by your paddle or oar. This trinket can be picked up throughout the game, or from enemies. While you mostly rely on your cannons and ammunition, it is still important to have an upgrade to your melee weapon.

There will still be times when your best option is to use the paddle. In these cases, having an appropriate amount of metal plating can help you overcome your battles faster.

As you progress through the game, more weapons and accessories become available to you. Sometimes you'll stop by a shop where you can buy items to upgrade your current equipment.

Found in these shops is the Ultrasonic Drum. This drum works as a bomb, essentially. You can use it to set off an explosion, thus damaging more than just one enemy. Or if there is only one enemy, you can knock it out much faster than a harpoon or common ammunition.

The Ember Toucan is a free addition to your boat. While you browse around the store, if you smash open some boxes, you can find the Ember Toucan. Once you find him, you can bring him onto your boat and use him as a weapon.

Once you bring the bird on board, you can set him down on a pedestal like the other ammunition. The bird will cough up eggs made of fire. You can use these eggs as ammunition, knocking back enemies in a roar of fire.

Throughout the game, many of the weapons that you encounter play with some sort of element. Whether that be fire, ice, air, or poison. The Pocket Blizzard is essentially what its name suggests.

With this weapon, you can carry around a miniature blizzard wherever you go. When dealing with enemies, a great way to buy yourself some time is to freeze them. Along with helping you defeat enemies, the Pocket Blizzard is also self-sustainable. Every encounter you go through, the weapon will partially refill itself.

Another weapon that deals with the elements, the Volcanic Rock is a huge help to you when you encounter it. This rock will set the entire seafloor on fire when you use it.

Because so much of the game is set on the sea, it's extremely useful to have a weapon that can make use of such a large area. Monsters hiding out in the sea won't be able to stay hidden when their floor is on fire. You can store the Volcanic Rock on one of the pedestals of the ship.
