The Best Weapons In Starship Troopers: Extermination
An arsenal at your fingertips, but which is the best to use?
Gear up Soldier, the zone you're dropping into is hot and crawling with bugs, and if you've picked the wrong weapons in Starship Troopers: Extermination you're going to end up just another KIA statistic on the Federations memorial walls.

Though the game is still taking its first steps in Early Access, there are still plenty of powerful projectile-tossing weapons to keep you alive as you do your part. There are more coming in the future, but for now, the arsenal is fairly stocked and there's some decent firearms worth pointing out. So to ensure you make it home in one piece on your next drop, here's the best weapons in Starship Troopers: Extraction.
The second of your personal pistol choices, the Emancipator is the bigger, sturdier brother of the Peacemaker and in the long run is a much better option than the starter pistol. First off, there's the damage, which is significantly chunky for a handgun given how rarely you'll use one. It's capable of tearing apart a Warrior bug in around two to three shots, one if you're really lucky.
Though its clip size is small, it does come with a nice bonus of inflicting stagger on targets. This will work mostly on Warriors and Shooter bugs, allowing you to either escape or switch to something that comes with a much bigger bang. This is ideal as the stun lock of the Shooter combined with the game's occasional lag spikes can be the bane of many. But it can't do this on Tigers or Artillery bugs as their chitin is too thick, it will still damage them but it's worth bringing out something larger to deal with those.
The smaller, louder, and punchier sibling of the Morita Assault Rifle, the Mk1 Carbine is a fast-firing fiend that's perfect for run-and-gun carnage. It also sounds great on full-auto. A bull-pup-designed rifle with a shorter range but better damage output, the Carbine jumps to the head of the class if you're looking for a step up from the Morita.
Though its damage may be low, its fire rate is fast and its magazine size is somewhat decent. So it makes it good for getting up close to groups of bottled-up Arachnids as you dump a bunch of damage on them, especially during the wave defense sections of each match. Plus its relatively quick reload speed means you won't get caught short should the bugs come rushing through your base walls.
Recognizable to fans of the movie as the weapon wielded by Sugar Watkins, the Hawkeye is the sniper variant of the Morita, and it's an excellent middle ground for those looking for something that's less spray and pray and more focus firing. Fired in a semi-automatic mode with a big sturdy scope that enhances your zoom substantially, the Hawkeye is your first choice for a sneaky sniper build.

Each shot can do a decent amount of damage on single targets, but the Hawkeye falls apart when it comes to big hordes. If you're on the frontline and not up on a perch, you're using it wrong. It also has a healthy magazine reserve so you can find a spot with good sightlines and set up camp for a good while without having to go for a full reload from an ammo box or nearby dispenser. If you like hanging around and defending the base or backing up troopers doing a Cannister run, then choose the Hawkeye.
The iconic machine gun from the movies, the Morita is a dependable, reliable workhorse of an assault rifle that may not have the biggest damage stats to write home about, but its healthy magazine pool won't let you down. It's relatively quick to reload and has some decent mid-to-long-range game, but it's the up close and personal fights where it excels.
Nothing can dump bullets like the Morita, with a buff to your magazine size using Perks you can hold that trigger down for a ridiculously long time before the weapon goes dry. Though it doesn't do a ton of damage, it more than makes up for it with the sheer volume of bullets going downrange.
The epitome of personal protection, the Chi-Hong Grenade Launcher is one of the second best area of effect weapons in the game. Available to the Operator class at level 20, the launcher ensures that any bugs you encounter are rendered into a gooey, chunky, exploding mess in seconds. Though make sure you have backup as the slow reload will catch you out if you're being ambushed by a big group of bugs.
Where the weapon absolutely excels is in crowd control. Lob a few of its exploding balls of joy into a large wave of Warriors and watch the fireworks. Though it may take you some time to grind up the levels to unlock it, the reward of being able to bounce a couple of grenades into a pack of Arachnids and watch the results rain down around you makes it worth the hassle.
The Pilum Rocket Launcher. If you have to absolutely, positively kill every last Arachnid in the room, accept no substitutes. This handy weapon can be wielded by absolutely anyone, does a ton of damage on single targets, and turns crowds of angry insects into gooey guacamole with just one trigger pull.
However, it does come with a slight downside, it's only available if you're quick enough. This is because the Pilar is a reinforcement weapon reward that can be grabbed by anyone when it becomes available. So if you're not fast enough to grab it, someone else is going to get all the fun. If you want big booms, make a bee-line to this weapon when you can.
